Just jammin

Check out my musical family! Holland has been taking drum lessons with my dad and is really good! I have no idea where her coordination comes from, but she's got it. She wanted her own set of drums to be able to practice on at home. We thought a set of electric ones would be great because you can plug headphones into them, bang your heart out, and not rattle the pictures on the wall. But, Holland really wanted a set of real drums, so we got these red ones from my dad. I hope she sticks with it because she truly has the talent for it!

Payton decided that she wanted to learn how to play the guitar, so she takes lessons with Mr. Steve. He's so wonderful with kids and really makes it fun for her to learn. She's fabulous, as well, and seems to have an ear for music. She has the basics down and has already moved on to chords. She'll be providing the Christmas music this year :) Even Scott's getting in on the action and is teaching himself how to play. So....that leaves me driving the bus. I'm tellin ya - watch out Partridge family!!

Enjoying the Weekend!

Here are pics from Halloween - Payton & her friend, Meghan with their first grade teacher, Mrs. Wiegel. We still love and miss her soooo much!!
Payton looks pretty dangerous in her gangster get-up, huh?? I wouldn't want to cross her in a dark alley!! :)Saturday night we went to PF Changs with Brad & Brandi. They have a baby on the way (3 weeks!!), so we wanted to get out together while we still could. Brandi looks so cute. Makes me sick. Everyone's face should double in size when they're pregnant like mine did. Anyway, the food was yummy and the company was so fun!!

Another beautiful day for a hike! And Scott is such a good dad to take the girls out and do that with them. They had fun, but wouldn't stop talking about the snake that Scott threw a rock at and made mad. I'm so glad I got to miss that!

One Terrific Family Reunion

This was not your typical family reunion.... No one was dressed in cut-offs and a wife-beater, there were no mystery dishes on the table, we weren't sitting outside sweating bullets and swatting flies, there was no watermelon seed-spitting contest, no one was talking about the time they spent in prison, everyone actually knew everyone else there.... I have to hand it to them - the Primms know how to have a family reunion! Everyone dressed up and met at the country club for a catered dinner that consisted of fried chicken, fried catfish, salad, 2 kinds of potatoes, green beans, rolls, cherry cobbler, peach cobbler, and vanilla ice cream!! Yeah boy - I married well! The whole group hadn't been together in a long time, so it was nice to catch up and let the kids see distant cousins that they never get to see otherwise. It was a great time!! (BTW, there are a lot of glowing eyes in the pictures. We're really not all possessed - it was dark in the room!)

These are the 3 boys responsible for everyone else - Randall, Ronnie, & Royce

And these are all of their kids - Shannon, Brent, Stacey, Ken, Kevin, Seth, Chris, & Scott This is our bunch without Tony, who is in California on a mission. We miss you, Tony!
These are the wives of the sons, plus Shannon & Stacey (the direct descendants:)

Oreos & Facebook are the devil!!

Oreos are just because they're so stinkin good that I can't quit eating them!

Facebook is because it is all-consuming and doesn't allow any time for blogging! But, it has been great for reconnecting with friends from the past. I think everyone loses contact with the majority of people you go to school with after graduation. You just assume that since you don't see them out and about, that they must've moved off somewhere. Well, I've been amazed to find so many from my class that still live right here in NWA. My friend, Jennifer, had the great idea of getting us all together for a little reunion at her house Friday night. It was SO much fun!! We talked about the good ole days, and about our families now, and then discussed who was where doing what now. There were 7 of us that made it, but we're hoping for a bigger group in December when some of the out-of-towners are in for the holidays. I can't wait!!

And here are some pictures from a few weeks ago that I just found on the camera. Scott and Payton went out to Devils Den and hiked around the lake one Sunday afternoon. He said that Payton loved every minute of it! (Holland chose to stay home, but was wishing she had gone.) They're actually all 3 out there right now, and Scott just called and said they were having a great time and would be home later on. Too bad they didn't take the camera this time :(

Our not-so wooded lot

It apparently stomed last night. I wouldn't know it if it weren't for all of the uprooted trees because I slept right through the whole thing (I apologize to all of you insomniacs out there that are cussing me right now). We have 5 trees down, or at least on their way. The tree that the treehouse was attached to is down, but somehow the treehouse is still standing (great craftsmanship, Scott & Randall!!). Now we have to figure out what to do with all of this mess. If you need firewood, bring your chainsaw over and have at it!

The best week ever!

As you all know, I was a little (extremely) anxious about missing the second week of nursing school to go on a cruise. After spending a whole lot of time weighing the pros and cons, I decided to go and.... Boy, am I glad I did!! It was the most fun I've ever had on vacation! The weather was picture-perfect (never a drop of rain), the ship was fabulous, the food was delicious, the islands were beautiful, and the new friends we made were more fun than a barrel o' monkeys! I didn't want to come back home, but all good things must come to an end. Oh well...now we have some great memories!!

Many of you sweet, concerned people have asked how school was for me this week. I can tell you in one word - CHAOS! You know how I said that I was going to enjoy the week and not think about school and then have a nervous breakdown on the way home?? Yeah, that's pretty much how it went. I had really good intentions. I took my papers to study and read with me to the pool, to the beach, to the dining room.... but they never quite found their way out of the bag. So... on the 5 hour flight from San Juan to Dallas, I learned how to do dosage calculations! I am proud to say that I only missed 3 on the quiz, and they were all because I put mg instead of mL. Stupid mistakes. I passed both validations on Tuesday & Wednesday, and made a 90% on my first major exam. I spent every spare minute this week cramming for the next day's challenge, so I am spent. I've never been more happy to see a weekend than I was this afternoon.

I'll NEVER plan a vacation while school's in session again, but.....in the end, it was all worth it!
